honors
The awards listed below are evidence of my work on a team, which is essential in creating media. Rarely does media happen alone. Ideas and visions come to life through communicating and collaborating with like-minded (and sometimes not like-minded) people. I have excelled in collaborative environments and have been lucky enough that organizations decided our teamwork and final product were award-worthy. The ones I'm most proud of are shown here.

From Fall of 2015 to Spring 2019 I was a faculty member in the Department of Communications Media at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. One of the classes I taught was Live Sports Production of football or basketball which changed depending on the sports season.

I directed and trained students, pulled cables and executive produced the shows through eight seasons. Our broadcasts won two national Telly awards for live student-produced productions, for a total of four awards.
2017 FACULTY RECOGNITION AWARD
Winner IUP Heiges-Lamberski Experiential Education Award 2017
My work with Live Sports Production was recognized at the university level because of the rich experiential education my students received in the courses I taught. I trained students who now work in media for organizations like: YinzCam, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Altoona Curve, Erie Seawolves, Accuweather, KWWL, WIBW, and Amazon.

I was proud to receive this award as it encompassed my passion for media and training the students to succeed in and outside of media.
The purpose of the Faculty Recognition Awards is to acknowledge the multidimensional nature of the practice of teaching and to begin to recognize some of the many excellent faculty members at IUP.
EDWARD R. MURROW AWARD
Winner National Edward R. Murrow Award 2000
Among the most prestigious awards in news, the Murrow Awards recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community.

I was one of four journalists who guided viewers from the anchor desk during coverage of Hurricane Floyd's deadly aftermath in Eastern North Carolina. CBS Affiliate WNCT-9, where I worked, broadcast coverage for seven days without a commercial break. Residents of the greater Greenville area and students at East Carolina University were displaced from their homes after 1000-year flood that followed after Floyd made landfall.
COMM 360: DIGITAL SPORTS PRODUCTION
This video about Live Sports Production was created as a marketing piece for IUP to show stakeholders how and what my students were learning while broadcasting Division 2 NCAA basketball games.
During my tenure as faculty member, my students were chosen multiple times to serve as the media team to broadcast the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship games.
*Because I was not a tenured faculty member, the chair of the department was invited to speak on camera about the program.
